Leading Swedish oral hygiene company TePe AB, market leaders of award winning interdental brushes, have demonstrated their commitment to the local community by working with Bridgwater and Taunton College to commission local students to produce artwork for their new UK headquarters in Wells.
Students were briefed to create a piece of art that would encapsulate the TePe values through incorporating TePe’s colourful interdental brushes, whilst considering TePe’s Swedish heritage. Students were also asked to look to the local landscape and cultures as their inspiration.
Fine Art Degree students, Amber Crocker 28, Mark Crocker 30, Tilly Hughes 20, Olivia Peace 19, Molly Stoodley 19 and Laura Biss 33 were able to develop their skills towards the commission through, printmaking, 3D, montage and illustrative work, discussing their ideas and processes in a series of talks.
Jayne Lunnon, General Manager UK at TePe, said: “Reaching out to the local community is really important to us and in supporting young artists in Somerset we can bring our values to life. We are so excited for Bridgwater and Taunton College to have undertaken this project for us. We’ve always had Somerset as our UK base and it’s important to us that we Use and benefit from local skills and amenities. to keep things local in any way we can”.
Matt Cox, Curriculum Manager of Creative Arts at Bridgwater and Taunton College said: “These projects are an excellent way of preparing our students to make a living from their creativity. It is great that we can work with global leading brands such as TePe. I am very proud of how the students handled the project, they have been impeccable in their approach and the staff at TePe have had nothing but high praise for the project. It is an exciting time for Creative Arts at Degree level with the launch of the University Centre Somerset imminent and we hope to work with TePe again in the future”.
Located at Cathedral Park in Wells, the new facility has become the head office and warehouse for the UK subsidiary of TePe AB. Previously based in Wedmore and Cheddar, the company’s new headquarters are strategically designed to accommodate the rapid growth TePe has been undergone in recent years and provide a facility for continued growth for the future.
